OPGW Fiber Optical Ground Wire Layer Strand Cable

Hone OPGW (Optical Fiber Composite Overhead Ground Wire) Cable

Hone OPGW Cable

OPGW (Optical Fiber Composite Overhead Ground Wire) cable integrates optical fibers and a ground wire into a single cable structure, providing both lightning protection and communication capabilities.

Description

OPGW fiber cable is designed for use on power transmission lines. Its structure allows it to function as an overhead ground wire while also providing a fiber optic communication network without requiring an additional cable. Using aluminum clad steel wire or aluminum alloy wire in the OPGW cable creates a good conductor for the overhead ground wire. This can reduce the secondary arc current of the transmission line and power frequency overvoltage, improving protection against interference and hazards.

Application

OPGW cables are used on transmission power lines.

Features

  • The optical fiber within the OPGW cable is protected by aluminum clad steel wire or aluminum alloy wire, providing high stability and reliability.
  • Eliminates the need for a separate cable, reducing installation costs.
  • The fiber unit’s hanging position and potential for electromagnetic corrosion are not a concern.
  • Suitable for new line construction and replacement of existing ground wires.
