ADSS Cable Long Span Aerial Self Supporting for FTTH Network

ADSS Fiber Optic Cable for Overhead Transmission Lines

ADSS Fiber Optic Cable

Hone ADSS cable provides a reliable communication medium for electrical utilities. Designed for installation along existing overhead transmission lines, it shares the same support structures as electrical cables, offering a cost-effective alternative to traditional methods.

Description

ADSS (All-Dielectric Self-Supporting) fiber optic cable is lightweight and utilizes aramid yarn protection, making it robust enough to support itself between poles or towers without requiring conductive metal elements. This design provides a viable alternative to OPGW cables with reduced installation costs.

The cable features 250µm fibers housed within water-resistant, high-modulus plastic loose tubes. These tubes, along with any fillers, are stranded around a non-metallic central strength member (FRP – fiber reinforced plastic) to create a compact and circular cable core. A layer of stranded aramid yarn is then applied between the core and the outer PE (or AT) sheath. For added protection, ADSS cables often incorporate an inner PE sheath between the cable core and the aramid yarn layer.

Applications

ADSS cable is primarily used for:

  • Aerial and self-supporting backbone networks
  • Distribution for FTTH (Fiber-to-the-Home) networks

Features

  • Lightweight and strong enough for self-supporting installations.
  • Installation can be performed without interrupting power transmission.
  • All-dielectric and self-supporting with a small diameter.
  • Reduced load due to ice and wind.
  • Long span capabilities, often exceeding 1000m.
  • Good tensile and temperature performance.
